In-Kind Donations Paused in January

In-kind donations paused in January. Accepting only food and brand new items. Normal donations resume in February. Image with text and a graphic of a person holding a heart standing next to a box of donations.

We are once again in the “good problem to have” situation in which we are overwhelmed with in-kind (clothing and household) donations.

We work hard to keep our shelves and racks stocked with the top tier of what our community brings in. That way our neighbors are offered a dignified shopping experience when they visit our outreach center.

This seems like a good time to also drop in the reminder that our donations are sorted by community volunteers, and we do not have the capacity to launder, recycle or repair items that arrive in unusable condition. Our volunteers are not paid and are not part of a work-training program like some other agencies offer. All that to say, “Bring us your best stuff.” We stay away from the “It’s better than nothing.” mindset around here because we know our community can do a lot better than that. And we can!
