Exciting Update: COPE’s in-kind donation process is getting a glow-up!
At COPE, we’re always looking for ways to make your experience as a supporter more seamless and aligned with best practices. That’s why we’re updating the way we acknowledge your generous in-kind donations of gently used clothing and household items.
What’s Changing?
Until now, when you donated items, we weighed your donation and sent you an email receipt with the total weight. Starting soon, we’ll be simplifying the process:
- You’ll still receive an email acknowledging your donation.
- Instead of listing the weight, the email will include a link to download and print a detailed receipt.
- This new receipt includes tax information, and you’ll be able to assign the fair market value of your donation—just like the IRS recommends!
Why This Is a Good Thing
This change puts you in control of valuing your donation, which is exactly how charitable deductions work when filing your taxes. It also streamlines our process so we can focus even more on serving our clients and supporting our volunteers.
We’re grateful for every item you donate—it helps us provide dignity and support to families in our community. Thank you for continuing to walk alongside COPE in this mission!
If you have any questions about the new process or need help accessing your receipt, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help!
