The vision of COPE is to build relationships with families and individuals in Western Douglas County so they may keep their dignity during difficult times in their lives by providing resources for both short-term and long-term support that increases self-sufficiency of our neighbors.

The Christian Outreach Program – Elkhorn (COPE) is a multi-denominational non-profit organization made up of ten Christian churches in western Douglas County. We help families stay in their homes and keep food on the table by providing financial assistance, caring concern, educational assistance and referrals when needed most. COPE provides HOPE to our neighbors in need, regardless of religious, cultural, or ethnic beliefs, while maintaining the confidentiality and dignity of those who are served.

Meet our Neighbors

A Typical COPE, family Mandy and Jim came to COPE concerned for the welfare of their family. They were in immediate need of food and financial help. Married with young children, their family was struggling as Jim went back to school with the goal of making a better salary to support his family. Mandy worked part time to help with the bills, but then she lost her job. Like many families in our community, they found themselves in a tough situation with the loss of income and no savings.

COPE provided hope for Mandy and Jim as we helped their family with food, rental and utility assistance, and some much needed care and support. Now, Jim has graduated and received a $7/hr. pay increase. They no longer need our services, but you will often see them at COPE sorting clothes or volunteering to help people complete their resumes. With the support of generous donors like you, this family was able to get back on their feet and stay in their home.
